Ferran Davesa is a doctoral researcher at the Institute for European Studies / Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) from October 2013. His doctoral thesis analyses e-democracy at the EU level and the impact of Internet-based participatory governance on EU's democratic deficit. Davesa is part of the joint research programme “Evaluating Democratic Governance in Europe” (EDGE).
From 2008 to 2013, Davesa was a researcher at the Institut Barcelona d'Estudis Internacionals (IBEI) and the Universitat de Barcelona (UB). As a member of the EUROCORES' "Comparative Agendas Project" and the "Spanish Policy Agendas Project", he contributed in the development of comprehensive datasets on the Spanish political system, the media and public opinion.
Davesa holds an MA in International Relations from Institut Barcelona d’Estudis Internacionals (IBEI), and a BA in Political Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra (UPF).
Recently, his academic research has focused on the impact of ICTs on transnational social movements and political parties. Davesa is also working on the implications of digital media with respect to citizen engagement into policy-making.
